    2. Growth Followed By Customers Now Considered CEOs’ Greatest Priorities

      CEOs and senior-level executives report growth as their main priority with customers now ranking second according to “The Year Of Digital Tenacity,” a new report by Gartner. Fifty-four percent of respondents prioritize growth, 31 percent prioritize customers and 27 percent prioritize workforce. According to Mark Raskino, vice president of Gartner Fellow, there was a noticeable increase in the word “customer” in the survey responses highlighting rising concern over customer satisfaction.

      Most of us have heard by now that overuse of digital media has degraded our focus. But perhaps the changes we are observing are behavioral, not cognitive.

      In spring of 2014, Microsoft Canada released the results of a study on media consumers that claimed attention spans are shrinking. The report warned us that the average attention span has dropped from 12 to 8 seconds since about the year 2000, and is likely caused by the exponential increase in use of digital media.
